Early Life
A genius in the field of sciences and a pioneer in field of medicine, at such a young age of 22, who would have though a man like him exists. He does and his name is Nathaniel von Faustus. The interesting about him was that at the age of 3 he was already able to speak and at 4 was able to read. At a young age, he managed to memorize all the information of all the volumes of the famous Encyclopedia. It was then confirmed that he is indeed a genius and was decided that he would take science as a course.
Education
Because of his intelligence, he skipped most of his elementary and high school life. He was effectively enrolled in the University of Twice H. Pieceman in England, a graduate school focused in the different sciences primarily medicine. He took up Bachelor of Science in Biology as his major when he was 11 years old and finished it in 6 semesters. Afterwards, he pursued medicine and became a medical practitioner before his 17th birthday. He later took up other science courses like Chemical Engineering, Botany, Physics and even Technical Engineering. Despite the many courses he took, medicine was his primary field.
As a medical practitioner
Although he already became a doctor, he still claims that he is still a medical student. Having studied in a University paying tribute to Twice H. Pieceman, he gained admiration and acknowledgement to the former and even studied his findings on the Amnesia Syndrome in which Twice found a cure of. Eventually, Nathaniel decided that he too will find cures for illnesses that cannot be treated.
Sometime later on, he was given a tasked to create a medicine for an epidemic that spread throughout Africa. Using his knowledge on Botany, he studied the plants in the continent and in just less than 2 years created a medicine for said disease. The medicine prolonged the life of the victim but the effects were only temporarily which led to the death of millions of people. Unable to accept his first failure in life, Nathaniel locked himself in his room for 1 month to pursue perfection in creating a cure.
Change in Personality
Nathaniel had a lover named Katelyn who is also a medical practitioner 2 years ahead of him. During his stay in Africa, the girl was exposed to the disease that killed millions. It was too late before they noticed her having the illness. Having reached the final stage of the disease, only death was left for her. Nathaniel created a new medicine which he believed that could cure her. However, the medicine only slowed down the spread of disease and was again unable to save a life.
The repeated failure he experienced took a toll on his mind which drove him insane. If he was an ordinary person, who does not possess skills and expectations transcending a normal human being, then it was simple to get over it. However, for a genius prodigy that failed consecutively, even unable to save the life of his lover, ripped apart his reality. He was branded a failure by the world and was stripped of his fame as, "Doctor N, the next Twice H. Pieceman."
Nathaniel would still continue practicing medicine but found happiness from somewhere else. Unlike before that his happiness came from the smiles and laughter of patients he had cured, now the joy he gets from his patients suffering and the desire to cure them as a doctor is something that he wishes to experience repititively.
This resulted a contradiction in his own heart and mind: the desire to cure patients and the desire to see them suffer. He was unable to realize what he truly desires until the moment he experienced the solution.
Nathaniel was the personal physician of Zinnia Edelweiss for 3 years. It was a repeated effort to try and find a cure for her mysterious illness. It was then when they thought they already cured her when it happened. The medicine and operation failed and the symptoms continued to linger. Seeing Zinnia suffer from the experience and lose the will to live brought joy to his heart. It was then he decided that he will continue to give her hope but shatter it once it does.
He daunted this persona in all his medical procedures and his patients as he continued to take offers from people who suffer from unknown illnesses that possess no cure.
Unfortunately, luck is not on Nathaniel's favor. Before his 22nd birthday, he experienced symptoms of a degenerative disease that slowly decays his neural system. He was forced to retire due to its spreading effects. The cause of his is unknown and because it cannot be cured, ironic as it was, he experienced the same feeling with his former patients: the feeling of only being waited to die.
"I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to die.
He repeatedly mumbled those words while all alone in his room. His desire to search for limitless of happiness in his field of medicine through the suffering of people was cut short by this startling illness. That is when he learned of the existence of the Holy Grail War. Learning that he would gain any wish once obtaining it, he would fine a cure for any disease and heal himself and continue his practice in medicine. That was his wish and his only resolve. Thus, his participation in the Holy Grail War, was largely due to his greedy and inhuman desires.
